La Cité universitaire francophone welcomes students for the winter 2024 semester at the University of Regina

Regina, January 9, 2024 — The Winter 2024 semester at the University of Regina commenced on Monday, January 8, with La Cité universitaire francophone (La Cité) opening its doors to a diverse cohort of both returning and new students across various programs.

This semester, the University of Regina is welcoming more than 16,200 students enrolled in degree programs or degree-eligible credit courses. This figure represents an increase of +1,316 students (+8.8%) from the comparable date in winter 2023, and a rise of +8.7% compared to winter 2022. The students are registered for 155,379 credit hours, reflecting a growth of +12,238 (+8.5%) from the comparable date in winter 2023 and an increase of +8.4% from the comparable date in winter 2022.

La Cité is proud to offer a broad spectrum of programs, including the Certificate in French as a Second Language, Minor in African Studies, BA, MA, and PhD in Francophone and Intercultural Studies, as well as the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, among others. In addition to academic programs, La Cité is welcoming students to various continuing education programs, including language and oral communication courses such as A1 Beginner, A2 Upper Beginner, B1 Intermediate, B2 Upper Intermediate, C1 Advanced, and C2 Advanced. La Cité's student services extend beyond academics to include campus-life programs such as Franco Club, Ciné Club, French for Adult classes, French for Travelers, and Language Testing. To support student success, La Cité offers a range of scholarships, including the $10,000 entry scholarship into the bilingual nursing program, Circle of Scholars scholarship (up to $20,000, $5,000 over 4 years), U of R Entrance Scholarship, Out-of-province student scholarships, and the New Frontier scholarship.
